She said to have the fight now as a professional in her own backyard is a welcome change for her and something she is really pumped up for.
The Filipino-American fighter shared in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda:
“I’m so excited, probably I think my initial feeling of excitement was because I can have a close flight here, it’s just like two hours away from home. But yeah, even though it’s not right here in my home state or home city of Los Angeles, even though it’s out of state, it still means a lot to me being able to fight in the U.S.”
Jackie Buntan continued:
“Because I’ve turned professional in ONE Championship, I haven’t fought here at home since 2019 when I was an amateur, when I had my last amateur fight so this is very big for me being able to have my first pro fight here in the States really.”
Buntan swung to the win column in her last fight, defeating Amber Kitchen of the United Kingdom by unanimous decision. In five fights so far in ONE, she has been solid with a 4-1 record.
Her next opponent Diandra Martin, meanwhile, is seeking to make it back-to-back victories in her young ONE Championship career.
ONE Fight Night 10 goes down at 1stBank Center and will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
Jackie Buntan says ONE Championship’s rule set makes for exciting fights
American fighter Jackie Buntan is high on the rule set of ONE Championship and considers it to play an important role in the promotion producing exciting fights.
In a recent interview with ONE, the Boxing Works standout shared her thoughts on the kind of setup they are made to perform under the company, describing it as “conducive” for athletes to go all out and be at their best.
Jackie Buntan said:
“The rule set, the gloves, the cage, three rounds only — it just puts you in a situation where you’ve got to go, making it exciting on both ends.”
California-based Buntan gets to showcase what she is capable of once again as she takes on Australian Muay Thai star Diandra Martin at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in Colorado, U.S.A.
The event is promotion’s first-ever live on-ground event in the United States and features 11 exciting showdowns, including three world title fights.
