Jackie Buntan on what it feels like to step into a big fight: “It’s a battle of being excited and being anxious”

Filipina-American striking star and former ONE world title challenger Jackie Buntan is no stranger to big fights. Since she joined ONE Championship in Feb. 2021, the feisty strawweight has been in nothing but absolute bangers in the world's largest martial arts organization.

She's had incredible battles with Nat 'Wondergirl' Jaroonsak, Ekaterina Vandaryeva, and Smilla Sundell, all of which are massive names in the promotion.

In a couple of weeks, however, Buntan will take on the biggest name of all when she steps into the ONE Championship ring with decorated kickboxing world champion 'C18' Anissa Meksen.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Buntan spoke of the magnitude of her showdown with Meksen, which has that big fight feel.

The 27-year-old Boxing Works representative stated:

"I mean, I obviously get super excited when I watch fights, but at the same time since I’m a fighter, when I watch it I feel all the emotions they’re feeling. They’re obviously not saying it, but you already know the emotions going through their heads. So it’s a battle of being excited and being anxious just knowing all the emotions that are going through their head. Walking up to the ring or the cage, being in the cage, waiting for the decision, you feel all those emotions."

27-year-old Filipina-American striking star Jackie Buntan is ready to exchange heavy artillery with Algerian-French kickboxing icon 'C18' Anissa Meksen.

The two lock horns for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Prime Video, which broadcasts live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, Nov. 8.
