Jackie Buntan grateful to be on massive ONE Fight Night 10 card

At ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Jackie Buntan will make her first appearance inside the circle this year.

Facing Diandra Martin, the fight contest may look like any other in Buntan’s career, but the stage that they’re fighting on adds a whole new level of anticipation.

May 5 is set to be a historic date for ONE Championship as the promotion hosts its first ever on-site event in the United States. Live from the 1stBank Center in Colorado, the promotion is bringing a stacked card full of some of the biggest names on the roster, with plenty of fights representing the US.

One of those fighters is the former ONE strawweight Muay Thai world championship challenger. Through her career under the ONE banner, Buntan has been able to represent her Filipino-American heritage overseas, but now she gets the chance to do it back home.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda, the California native spoke about being grateful to be featured on this card:

“I guess my initial thought was I was pretty surprised that they had me on the card, I think that quickly right away. I’m totally [excited] to be on such a massive card, being ONE’s first U.S. show. So all around just pretty excited and grateful.”

ONE Fight Night 10 is ONE Championship’s fifth Amazon card of the year and will be broadcast live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Jackie Buntan says ONE Championship’s rule set makes for exciting fights

At ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 in Colorado, Jackie Buntan isn’t just representing her Filipino-American heritage.

As one of the premier female strikers in ONE Championship, she is physical proof of the way the promotion has helped to champion this area of martial arts competition.

With the likes of Buntan, her training partner and close friend Janet Todd, and Stamp Fairtex, who also features on the card, ONE has helped to make strides in advancing female striking.

ONE Fight Night 10 is a perfect example of exactly how they do this. On a stacked card in front of a sold-out crowd, Buntan will get the opportunity to compete against elite athletes from all different disciplines and backgrounds.

With the likes of ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson, flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon and flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci also featuring on the card, it raises the profile of competitors like Buntan.

As she prepares to face Diandra Martin at the blockbuster event, the California native said in an interview with the promotion that it is built into ONE Championship’s DNA to present great contests and that helps to get more people invested in the sport:

“The rule set, the gloves, the cage, three rounds only — it just puts you in a situation where you’ve got to go, making it exciting on both ends.”
