Jackie Buntan working towards a shot at the ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world title
In her most recent bout, the skilled Jackie Buntan battled 'The Hurricane' Smilla Sundell for the ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai World Championship. After five full rounds, Sundell walked away with the ONE gold and set the record for being the youngest world champion in ONE history.
Jackie Buntan will soon begin her journey back to a shot at the world title. She wants the ONE gold, and she wants to avenge her loss. While speaking with SCMP MMA, Buntan explained:
“I mean it depends on how many fights they want to give me before I’m able to get that rematch, but I want that rematch. It’s not like a one-and-done type of thing for me.”
Sundell is a challenging opponent, but Buntan is looking forward to overcoming and defeating her in the future. The 25-year-old Muay Thai fighter continued:
“It was very hard to get out of her lanky range. Coming into this fight, I’ve said in other interviews that I know she’s a solid opponent. She has good technique, we knew she was strong and she has some weight behind her hands.”
