There's certainly a lot of factors that Jacob Smith could draw from if he was looking for extra motivation for his next outing. However, if you've heard the Brit speak about his mindset in the past, you'll know that he only has one goal in mind.
At ONE 169 on Nov. 8, Smith will challenge Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with the chance to leave Lumpinee Stadium with the world championship by defeating the biggest star in the sport, it's also an opportunity to get revenge after how their first meeting played out.
That, however, hasn't factored into Smith's approach because for him, getting his hand raised is all the motivation that he needs. The battle-hardened striker told Combat Sports TV in a recent interview that being victorious is always his single-minded focus:
"To me, I've said this before, people ask me, does it give you extra motivation that you're fighting for the ONE Championship world title? My answer will always be, no, I'm a fighter. I want to win every single fight I'm in, regardless of what I'm fighting for, because that goes hand in hand with what I was saying then, that's the prize."

Jacob Smith has self belief this time around
In his first encounter with Rodtang on his ONE Championship debut, the toughness of Jacob Smith was enough to keep him in the fight. His goal for the rematch is not just hang in there, but secure minutes and rounds against the world champion.
He now has the confidence in his skills to go out there and tackle 'The Iron Man' head on and that's something he believes that Rodtang will be wary of.
Jacob Smith's expecting the best version of the world champion on Nov. 8 and that's something he's confident in taking on.
