Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry is in the books. The event took place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, on July 20. It featured several notable boxers who performed to the best of their ability to entertain the fight fans. This article recaps the event and explores the full results.
In the main event, Jake Paul fought ex-UFC fighter and BKFC sensation Mike Perry in a ten-round boxing match. The fight was put together after Paul's fight against Mike Tyson was postponed to Nov. 15. This was after Mike Tyson's health scare that required medical attention on a flight.
Heading into the fight, Paul was a considerable -425 favorite while Perry was a +300 underdog. Paul enjoyed a considerable size advantage over Perry, who has mostly competed in the 170 and 185-pound divisions for the majority of his combat sports career.
In the fight, Paul tried to exploit the size advantage and started throwing heavy punches at the 32-year-old from the get-go. He scored a knockdown early in the first round and followed it up with another knockdown in the second frame.

Perry had the most success when Paul abandoned the jab. However, 'The Problem Child' regained control of the fight when he went back to it and repeatedly intercepted Perry with powerful shots as he marched forward with hands down.
'The Problem Child' came close to finishing the fight on several occasions and knocked Perry down in the sixth round. Perry could not answer the ten-count, suffering the first knockout loss of his combat sports career in nearly five years.
With the win, Paul has now extended his professional boxing record to 10-1. He is on a four-fight win streak since losing to Tommy Fury in February 2023.
In the co-headlining bout, Featherweight champion Amanda Serrano fought Stevie Morgan. Serrano was originally scheduled to challenge Katie Taylor for the undisputed super lightweight championship. The fight will now take place on the Tyson vs. Paul undercard on Nov. 15.
Serrano, who has not competed since October 23, accepted to fight Morgan to stay active. The difference in experience was visible from the get-go as Morgan had no answer to Serrano's relentless attack and went into a defensive shell. The referee stepped in to save Morgan from absorbing unnecessary punishment. The end came at the 38-second mark to the second round.
Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry undercard: Lucas Bahdi, Corey Marksman secure crucial victories
On the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry undercard, Canada's Lucas Bahdi fought highly touted prospect Ashton Sylvie, which marked the biggest challenge of his professional boxing career so far. Despite being 21, Sylvie had fought the more experienced competitors heading into the fight and was seen as the bigger name between the two.
Sylvie took control of the fight from the opening bell and dominated Bahdi with elusive footwork, head movement, and clean punches. The gap kept getting wider as the rounds progressed and Sylvie appeared to be cruising to a comfortable victory.
That changed in the sixth round when Bahdi knocked Sylive out cold with a clean right hand, left hook combination to score one of the biggest come-from-behind victories of the year. The win extended Bahdi's professional boxing record to 17-0.
Corey Marksman and Tony Aguilar's rematch also took place on the undercard. The duo fought to a draw in their first fight that took place in February. After their first encounter, Aguilar went on to defeat Alexander Rios Vega by unanimous decision in April. Meanwhile, Marksman knocked Jonathan Perez out in the first round on June 8.
Marksman, who was a proven finisher heading into the fight with eight KOs under the belt, landed the bigger punches of the fight. While Aguilar was the aggressor, he walked into many stinging shots.
While Marksman seemed to be fading in the middle rounds, he bounced back in the later rounds to score a majority decision win. Both men were undefeated in their professional boxing careers heading into the fight and it was Aguilar, who lost the '0' from the loss column.
In the opening bout, Julio Caesar Chavez fought ex-UFC fighter Uriah Hall in a six-round boxing match. Hall stepped up to fight after Chavez's original opponent, fellow ex-UFC fighter Darren Till pulled out. After retiring from MMA in 2022, Hall transitioned to boxing and defeated Le'Veon Bell by unanimous decision in October 2022.
Chavez, who was one of the most accomplished boxers on the card, was coming off a two-and-a-half-year layoff since defeating David Zegarra in December 2021.
In a relatively uneventful fight, Hall was the aggressor for the most part while Chavez Jr. appeared comfortable going backward. Hall had Chavez Jr. backed up against the ropes and unloaded punches in the closing seconds to finish strong. However, Chavez Jr. had done enough to convince the judges and walked away with a unanimous decision win.
Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry prelims: Shadasia Green, Alexis Chaparro register dominant wins
In the headlining bout on the preliminary card, super middleweight contender Shadasia Green defeated Natasha Spence by unanimous decision to bounce back from the December 2023 loss against Franchon Crews Dezurn. To her credit, Spence landed some good strikes in the fight but Green outworked her quantitatively and qualitatively to walk away with a win.
Highly touted prospect Alexis Chaparro effectively used his reach to keep Kevin Hill at the end of his jab before cracking him with an overhand right in the second round. Hill could not answer the 10-count and Chaparro improved to 2-0 in his young professional boxing career.
Elsewhere, Angel Barrientes defeated Edwin Rodriguez by unanimous decision while Ariel Perez knocked Dane Guerrero out in three rounds.
