Jake Peacock underlines why he can't slack against "experienced" Shinji Suzuki: "A couple of things that might surprise me"

Jake Peacock is confident he can take his run under the ONE Championship spotlight to 2-0 when he squares off against Shinji Suzuki at ONE 169. However, the Canadian-British superstar knows he can't afford to blink his eye even for a split second.

The 31-year-old opens the promotion's numbered event inside the Lumpinee Stadium alongside the Japanese veteran in a three-round bantamweight Muay Thai duel.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, 'The One' explained why he'll remain calculative when shifting into attack despite believeing he's levels above Suzuki:

"Though I've said that it wouldn't be difficult to find holes in his game, I'm not going to underestimate what he brings to the ring. He's experienced, and I know a couple of things might surprise me."

Jake Peacock's matchup against the Fujimakick Muay Thai Gym representative will be one of six striking contests set for ONE 169 on Nov. 8.

Jake Peacock targets second-round finish of Shinji Suzuki

If he can dictate the contest and keep Shinji Suzuki's surprises at bay, Jake Peacock could well be on his way to a memorable victory at ONE 169.

After debuting with a well-deserved unanimous decision triumph over Kohei Shinjo, the Canadian-based talent is ready to pull all the stops to ensure he wraps up his sophomore outing before it reaches the final bell.

In the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Peacock revealed that he wants nothing more than a knockout, saying:

"I'm gonna go out there, knock him out in two rounds. I want to make a statement. From there, we'd move on to the next one."
