Earlier this week, former UFC fighter Jake Shields got into a physical altercation with welterweight fighter Mike Jackson at the UFC Performance Institute. Shields posted a video of the incident to Instagram, accusing Jackson of trolling him online.
In a subsequent interview with MMA Fighting, the former middleweight title challenger claimed that constant "Nazi" jibes by 'The Truth' on Twitter were what led to their fight at UFC PI.
The 43-year-old claimed that such slander might have cost him many business deals. Shields added that he could even sue Jackson if he wanted to:

“I know I shouldn’t have done that. But the guy had for months just been popping on my Twitter and calling me a Nazi, which is complete defamation... I do business with Jewish people, and so they’re calling me a Nazi, and people that know me know I’m not that way, but what if I didn’t know these people I was working with? I could lose big business deals if he’s sitting there telling people I’m a Nazi and a white supremacist. It’s such a slander. I could sue him for defamation.”
In the wake of the unruly incident, Jake Shields has been banned from UFC PI. According to reports, Mike Jackson is pressing assault charges against the former UFC fighter.
When Jake Shields shared his Berkeley protest story with Steven Crowder
In 2017 Jake Shields made headlines when he defended a man from a berserk mob at the University of California, Berkeley. In a subsequent appearance on Louder with Crowder, the MMA fighter detailed what led to the unpleasantries.
The 43-year-old told Steven Crowder that the Berkeley protesters were branding any Donald Trump supporter as a "Nazi" and were beating them up:
"There was a big protest... All of a sudden I see some guy running off, getting chased by mobs of people with bats and sticks, and masks, chasing him down and beating him... Everyone is cheering them on being like get the Nazi... I knew this guy was probably not really a Nazi. I know these people on the left have just gone insane. They attack anyone that's a Trump supporter."
Shields added that lucky for him, the assailants were not very tough and he was able to quickly fight them off and diffuse the situation:
"So I run in there and start fighting people off, throw a couple of punches, pushing people back. Luckily, it wasn't the toughest guys with sticks."
