UFC veteran Jake Shields is skeptical of the United States' motives for sending massive funds to Israel while its citizens remain neck-deep in debt.
The Californian grappler wonders why the United States would rather send money to foreign governments than pay off its debts. According to fiscal data released by the U.S. Treasury Department, the country has incurred over $35 trillion in debt. Despite this, the United States has provided billions in aid to Israel since its inception in 1948.
This does not sit well with Shields, who took to X to highlight the government's ignorance towards its citizens' hardships while funding foreign nations. Furthermore, he thinks this could have disastrous consequences for the country. Shields wrote:
"America is $35 trillion in debt. Each taxpayer owes $250k. While massively in debt we are still sending billions to Israel and Ukraine. This is the equivalent of being $250 in debt and giving strangers money instead of paying your own car payment. Obviously, this won't end well."

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the U.S. has rallied in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and sent billions in aid. Similarly, the U.S. government gave Israel military assistance and money after Hamas attacked Israeli territory in 2023.
Shields recently voiced his dissatisfaction with the astronomical tax rates that New York residents pay as a result of the migrant crisis that is currently affecting many American states.
Jake Shields slams American politicians for supporting Israel
Jake Shields has grown irritated with how the U.S. government manages foreign conflicts. The grappler has frequently expressed his concerns on social media and in podcast interviews.
Moreover, the former Strikeforce champion asserted the politicians would continue their support for Israel even if it killed American citizens. He wrote on X:
"Israel could nuke America and our politicians would still defend them"
