Jamahal Hill has recruited several key training partners to prepare for his light heavyweight title shot at UFC 283.
The UFC light heavyweight division was turned upside down in the aftermath of UFC 282. Former champion Jiri Prochazka vacated the title due to a shoulder injury, which led to Magomed Ankalaev vs. Jan Blachowicz competing for the 205-pound crown. The new UFC 282 main event shockingly ended in a split draw, leaving the division without a champion.
Dana White decided to take the division in another direction by announcing another title fight. In January, Glover Teixeira and ‘Sweet Dreams’ will fight at UFC 283 for the still-vacant title.
During an interview with Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith, Hill had this to say about preparing for the short-notice opportunity:

“I started reaching out to people. Reaching out just to get a different element into the camp… Derek Brunson actually reached out to me, so he said he was willing to come out and work on some single legs. Belal [Muhammad], I reached out to Belal. Aljo [Sterling]. I’m gonna have some talks with Aljo as well. The main thing was making sure we had time for my head instructor, my head jiu-jitsu instructor, to come up…”
Bisping responded by saying:
“So, basically, it’s an all-star team. You’ve got five weeks. You’re in shape anyway. You’re ready to go, and it’s a massive opportunity.”
Hill was preparing for a fight against Anthony Smith in March before getting the call to fight Teixeira. The short notice opportunity provides both light heavyweights five weeks to prepare for the UFC 283 main event.

Jamahal Hill has added a nutritionist to his team
Jamahal Hill has revealed that he stays in shape all year round, but training for a championship fight is a new mountain to climb. During the same interview, ‘Sweet Dreams’ discussed another addition to his team besides elite training partners:
“My weights coming down. I’m getting with a nutritionist. I’m gonna implement that into my game. The biggest focus is to show up in my best form.”
Hill made his UFC debut in January 2021 after competing on Dana White’s Contender Series. Since then, the 31-year-old has a 5-1 record with one no-contest. ‘Sweet Dreams’ has emerged as a fan favorite and a legitimate threat to become a UFC light heavyweight champion.
