Brazil recently hosted the UFC 283 event, which featured two notable championship fights. One saw Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill compete for the light heavyweight title, while the other was between flyweight rivals Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo.

Jamahal Hill won the gold with a dominant performance against his Brazilian counterpart. Prior to that, Brendon Moreno clinched the flyweight belt by defeating Figueiredo, who, like Teixeira, marked a defeated Brazilian fighter.

Given the pair losing their respective fights, the crowd present in Rio de Janeiro was unimpressed with the results, displaying some unsporting behavior towards the fighters.

The retirement fight of Brazilian icon Teixeira was a great spectacle, but what surprised people was the lack of attendance in the arena.

After the bout, the stands were nearly empty, and Teixeira had to give his retirement speech to a small audience. This was noticed by online fans, who were quick to criticize the fans in Brazil. Many were disappointed that Teixeira's countrymen were not present to hear him give his farewell speech.

Appearing in a recent interview with MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn, an unimpressed Jamahal Hill reflected back on the situation and had this to say:

"Dealing with the Brazilian people was amazing, you know, it was all positive vibes, great energy, they were really respectful and things like that. [But] the crowd that was there [at UFC 283] was a different story, you know. They got a little f***ing weird... one dude is like [sticking the tongue out] all these shit... like being really sliced bro. You got like a job, like family, kids, like you old as hell bro."

The newly crowned light heavyweight champ further continued:

"I took it as like, it was sports, but for them to be like, salty and like, things like that... especially like, the Brendan Moreno situation more or so, kind of was like, f***ed up."

Brandon Moreno, the newly crowned flyweight champion, also had a bad experience. The Mexican had to be escorted by security to the backstage area due to fans throwing drinks at him.

Jamahal Hill reveals who he wants as his first title challenger

Newly crowned light heavyweight champ Jamahal Hill has expressed a desire to defend his title against former champion Jiri Prochazka.

Hill made the statement in the same interview, noting his confidence about the potential matchup:

"I'm hoping that it's him [Jiri Prochazka]. 'Cause I've wanted the Jiri fight for a long time. I know that's a big fight and I think the magnitude of that fight would be great. And I think I win. I think I'm better than Jiri everywhere. I'm willing to wait till July/August. Past that, I think it's next man up."

With Jiri Prochazka too expressing his desire for a championship match upon his return, speculation has been sparked as to whether the promotion will make it a reality.
