Returning ONE featherweight Muay Thai contender Jamal Yusupov believes he has one advantage over Tawanchai that not many fans are too aware of.
Turkish Muay Thai veteran ‘Yeniceri’ Jamal Yusupov is currently gearing up for a featherweight war against the newly crowned Tawanchai PK. Saenchai at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II. The bout could mark his final attempt at ONE Championship gold.
Yusupov enters the ONE circle on Feb. 24 with the full knowledge that Tawanchai will have youth and speed as an advantage. But for his part, the 39-year-old veteran also knows that he brings something to the table that Tawanchai does not have.
In an exclusive interview with ONE Championship, Yusupov explained:

“My advantage is my boxing. Even Tawanchai himself pointed it out. He said I have good boxing. I have always been saying that boxing is my advantage, and I will prove it.”
Despite coming into the foray as an underdog, Yusupov is a world-class talent with the ability to make the odds swing in his favor.
For starters, he has multiple accolades in Muay Thai and kickboxing at the national level, as well as high-level experience fighting against some of the top kickboxing strikers in the world, including two-sport world champion Regian Eersel.
From his last three wins alone, ‘Yeniceri’ comes off as a dangerous, forward-pressuring fighter, whose dirty boxing style has led him to use his elbows and short left hooks with debilitating effect.
Although these days the focus and attention is on Tawanchai, Jamal Yusupov is truly a hidden gem in the combat sports world.

Tawanchai is unfazed by Jamal Yusupov’s fighting experience
Thai superstar Tawanchai PK. Saenchai is unfazed by Jamal Yusupov’s illustrious Muay Thai experience.
The 23-year-old phenom is on cloud nine after dethroning long-reigning world champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee for the featherweight belt at ONE 161 last year. A dangerous knockout artist in his own right, Tawanchai isn’t fazed by Yusupov’s strength or experience ahead of their world title clash.
Speaking to ONE Championship, the Pattaya native said matter-of-factly:
“Of course he has extensive fighting experiences, but they’re not superior to mine.”
Starting Muay Thai at an early age, Tawanchai has had some of the world’s best coaches and training partners in Thailand to compete against elite veterans like Yusupov and Petchmorakot.
For him, it’s just another day at the workplace.
