The ongoing war of words between Jamahal Hill and reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira nearly escalated into a physical altercation when Hill confronted Pereira at the UFC Performance Institute. A video of the altercation is going viral, and now, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has shared his reaction to the incident.
The altercation occurred at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. ‘Sweet Dreams’ approached ‘Poatan’ to confront him, and things escalated when the Brazilian champion threw boxing gloves at Hill, seemingly challenging him to step into the cage and fight. However, Hill did not accept the challenge, and Pereira’s coach, Plinio Cruz, intervened to separate the two.
Blachowicz, who faced Pereira at UFC 291, took to X to mock Hill. He reshared the video of the incident and questioned Hill's decision not to accept the challenge. Mocking the fellow former champion, the Polish star said:
“Is not that easy in real life, isn’t it? Why didn’t you pick up the gloves?”

Hill suffered a first-round knockout loss to Pereira at UFC 300. However, Hill claims the Brazilian got lucky. He alleges that he accidentally hit 'Poatan' with a groin strike, and while the referee momentarily paused the action, Pereira waved it off, resumed the fight, and landed his signature left hook to secure the victory before Hill was fully ready to resume.
Jamahal Hill reveals his side of the altercation with Alex Pereira at UFC PI
Jamahal Hill is set to make his octagon return after suffering a knockout loss to Alex Pereira, facing Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311. Ahead of their clash, a war of words began between Hill and Pereira, with the latter labeling the former his "son" and stating he would give 'Sweet Dreams' a rematch if he gets past Prochazka next year. All the heated exchanges ultimately led to an altercation between them.
Hill later opened up about the altercation and shared what actually happened at the UFC PI.
“I was at the PI earlier, and Alex was there. I just finished working out, he was working out, and I went to go up and have a conversation... Initially, when I went up to him, it was smooth... And in the exchange, he said something to his translator, and his translator said, ‘He said you’re still sleeping, woke up and s***!’’ I’m wide awake now! You can get put to sleep for real!"
He continued:
"Then it kind of went to a fake a**, ‘Yeah, come get the gloves and go in the cage... When I’m out in a situation like that, we could throw hands right now."
