Janet Todd is thrilled to see the sport of Muay Thai gaining popularity and recognition in the United States in recent years.
The American-born Muay Thai fighter will be back in action this Friday night. She'll attempt to unify her ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai title with returning titleholder Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
Before their co-main event clash at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, Todd spoke with ONE Championship on the expansion of Muay Thai in the US.
“I think in the United States, we have like the United States Muay Thai Federation that's been doing some really big things for the sport, not just for women, but for Muay Thai in general. That's actually been helping and has been giving more women more experience in tournaments, bringing up their experience so that they can compete at the world stage. And most recently, at IFMA World Games, a lot of women from our U.S. team medaled against people that competed from all over the world.”

Janet Todd is doing her part to help grow the sport
As a two-sport ONE world champion, Janet Todd is undeniably one of the most successful women in all of combat sports. ‘JT’ hopes that her work inside the Circle and her efforts outside of it will help inspire the next generation of athletes.
"I hope people can see what I do and say, ‘Yeah, I can do that.’ Or even say, ‘Yeah, I could do that better,” Todd said. ‘“I could be the next champion and help the sport grow.’"
Janet Todd was also grateful for ONE Championship, a promotion that gives herself and hundreds of other athletes a platform to hone their craft.
"ONE Championship is a great platform, but I hope the sport continues to grow through some of these major promotions like ONE Championship."
Janet Todd will once again have an opportunity to inspire viewers as she looks to turn her ONE interim world title into undisputed gold against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
