ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai and reigning atomweight kickboxing world champion Janet Todd is a master tactician. She never telegraphs her strikes as every punch, kick, elbow and knee she throws has a purpose. She will throw three or four set-up strikes just so she can land one really powerful strike.

Her tactical prowess was on full display in a training video posted by Janet Todd's sparring partner and close friend, former ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title challenger Jackie Buntan. 'JT' connected with a slick right hand off a blinding combination.

Here's the video:

Most old-school boxing trainers would say that when it comes to striking exchanges, you have to be first, and you have to be last. Todd's combination in the video proves why this concept is highly effective.

In order to get your opponent to fight at your chosen pace, you have to lead the dance and strike first. But with every exchange, you'd want to be the last one to connect to have a lasting effect on your opponent and the judges watching as well.

The first three strikes were just for Buntan to react and defend, blinding her from the real punch that Janet Todd originally wanted to connect with.

Janet Todd and Jackie Buntan working together in preparation for their upcoming fights

At ONE Fight Night 10, Jackie Buntan will be fighting in front of her fellow Americans for the first time as a ONE Championship fighter.

Across the circle from her will be Australia's Diandra Martin. The two Muay Thai specialists have a common denominator in that they both lost to ONE strawweight Muay Thai queen Smilla Sundell.

A win on May 5 could potentially bring either kickboxer closer to a world title shot.

In preparation for Martin, Buntan is working extensively with her friend and ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion Janet Todd. The two are staples of Boxing Works gym in Lawndale, CA, and have been integral in elevating each other's game.

Todd, on the other hand, will fight ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen-Rodrigues in a much-anticipated unification bout at ONE Fight Night 8. This came on the heels of her interim Muay Thai world title win over Lara Fernandez last year.

Wanting to become a two-sport world champion in ONE Championship, Todd is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to her preparations for Rodrigues, who is making her return to action after a near-three-year hiatus.
