Count ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world champion Janet Todd as a captive fan of ONE Championship’s Friday Fights series at the famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

A product of the partnership between ONE and Lumpinee, the fight series was launched in January and has already become an established weekly tradition in the Thai capital. All the Friday Fights staging were well received by both the athletes and spectators.

As a Muay Thai practitioner, Janet Todd enjoys watching the action in the fight series and can relate to the thrill that the athletes feel performing in the historic arena.

She shared in an interview with ONE Championship:

“It's always a dream to compete at Lumpinee as a Muay Thai artist. What's crazy to me was they were still fighting like they had boxing gloves on, but with four ounce gloves, and everybody was just, man, those fights were nuts. They were in the pocket, punching each other. It was crazy.”

As she follows ONE Friday Fights, Todd is also busy preparing for her unification bout with reigning ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues next week.

The two will collide at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video on March 24 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the right to be crowned undisputed world champion.

Janet Todd is looking to become a full-fledged two-sport world champion, being the concurrent ONE atomweight kickboxing queen. Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, meanwhile, will make her first title defense, nearly three years since becoming champion.

All ONE Fight Night events are broadcast live and for free in North America via Prime Video.

Janet Todd says ONE Championship is a "great platform" for women’s martial arts

ONE women’s atomweight kickboxing world champion Janet Todd is grateful for being part of ONE Championship because of the many opportunities given to female fighters like her under its fold.

'JT' told ONE Championship in a recent interview how the promotion has provided a great platform for them to showcase what they are capable of just as she expressed hope for other organizations to follow its lead.

Todd said:

“Compared to the men, there’s not as many women competing. ONE Championship is a great platform, but I hope the sport continues to grow through some of these major promotions like ONE Championship. And, yeah, I hope people get inspired to compete. If I can do it, you can do it.”

Apart from the main shows of the promotion, ONE also launched earlier this year the ONE Friday Fights series as an added platform for male and female Muay Thai and mixed martial arts fighters.

Todd, meanwhile, returns to action on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video in Singapore. She will look to become the undisputed ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion in a world title unification match against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues of Brazil.

The Janet Todd-Allycia Hellen Rodrigues unification fight was originally set for late last year but was deferred after the American fighter was diagnosed with COVID-19.
