Janet Todd was seen training hard for her upcoming fight against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
Rodrigues hasn’t fought since August 2020 due to the birth of her son and an inconvenient case of COVID. As a result, ONE Championship decided to assemble an interim atomweight Muay Thai world championship fight between Todd and Lara Fernandez at ONE 159.
Todd emerged victorious by unanimous decision, making herself the No.1 contender for the undisputed championship. ‘JT’ and Rodrigues will meet on March 24 in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video. Game Ready Performance shared a video on Instagram of the interim titleholder training with the caption saying:
“10 days out from the @onechampionship Muy Thai World Title fight! @jmcoakle, it’s your time. 🔥🔥🔥”

While Rodrigues was away, Todd fought three times. Dating back to March 2021, the American Muay Thai fighter has defeated Alma Juniku, Anne Line Hogstad, and Fernandez. Meanwhile, the Brazilian world champion might have to battle ring rust, but she’s coming off an impressive win against Stamp Fairtex, which speaks volumes about her potential moving forward.

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues believes matchup against Janet Todd will be great for the fans at ONE Fight Night 8
Unification world championship bouts are always intriguing because both fighters have proven to be elite. When it comes to the ONE atomweight Muay Thai throne, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues and Janet Todd each believe they will walk away from ONE Fight Night 8 with undisputed status.
During an interview with ONE Championship, Rodrigues has this to say about preparing for her upcoming fight:
“I've been training very well... I always prepare very well for every fight. Regardless of who the opponent is, I will always arrive 100 percent prepared. Because of our fighting styles, I'm sure we'll put on a great fight for the fans.”
Rodrigues vs. Todd isn’t the only world championship fight at ONE Fight Night 8. In the main event, Rodtang Jitmuangnon looks to become a two-sport world champion when he challenges flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9 for his world title. Along with all ONE Fight Night events, ONE Fight Night 8 will be broadcast live and for free in North America via Prime Video.
