Riding a four-fight win streak, ONE Championship’s two-sport titleholder Janet Todd will make her return to the circle to unify her interim atomweight Muay Thai championship against reigning champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.

Ahead of her Muay Thai showdown with Rodrigues, Todd spoke with Calf Kick Sports about training with Boxing Works head coach Bryan Popejoy.

“There are so many things. First of all, he’s constantly growing as a coach. He’s always watching fights not just Muay Thai or kickboxing, but MMA and boxing. Being able to mix some of those elements that might work in our Muay Thai and kickboxing game.”

Janet Todd continued:

“Just being able to see that tiny detail in our technique and say, ‘Maybe you didn’t turn your hips enough?’ Or ‘Maybe you need to sit down a little bit more’. And all of a sudden we’re punching with more power and we’re kicking harder.”

In addition to training Janet Todd to an impressive 7-1 promotional run with two world titles under the ONE Championship banner, Popejoy has also aided in the success of Jackie Buntan, a one-time strawweight Muay Thai title challenger with a 3-1 record inside the circle:

“It’s crazy the kind of eye he has for technique and for the sport."
