Muay Thai superstar ‘JT’ Janet Todd believes her next match against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will be nothing short of a Master Class this Friday.

The two-sport world champion returns to the foray with the sole intention of unifying her belt and becoming the undisputed Muay Thai queen of the world. But in order to etch her name in the history books, she’s got to go through one of the most technical Muay Thai strikers in the world: Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.

Speaking at the ONE Fight Night 8 press conference on Wednesday, here’s what Janet Todd had to say about her future rival:

“Allycia [Hellen Rodrigues] has been around for a while. Even though she fought in ONE Championship one time, she’s had many fights in Thailand. She’s going to be a great opponent, and I expect her to be a technical match.”

The American superstar will be the first person to tell you that she loves watching a good technical fights. As a true virtuoso of the sport, Todd likes to fight against high-level opponents who will only bring out the best in her. Expecting Rodrigues to match her intensity, Todd will rely on a whole range of skills and techniques to effectively pile on the damage.

Like most of her previous bouts, Todd utilizes range very well and she’s particularly dangerous with her kicks, knees, and punches. An effective counter-puncher as well, Janet Todd can’t wait to battle-test some of the new skills she’s learned on a very strong opponent.

Despite the setbacks and delays, Janet Todd knew her fight with Rodrigues was going to happen

Janet Todd has one more dream to realize this year and it’s going to take some more blood, sweat, and tears to get it.

The American superstar didn’t have the most linear path to success in her career. But despite all the bumps on the road, she never let fear or setbacks steer her away from her goal. Even after catching COVID on the eve of her first match with Rodrigues, she reminded herself that something good will come out of something negative.

She told ONE:

“I can’t sit there and just feel sorry for myself. What’s done is done. I can’t go back in time. I don’t even know how I got COVID. Maybe it was in the airplane. Who knows? But there’s nothing I can do at that point. So all I had to do was look forward. And just keep training once things get better. Knowing that this fight was going to happen sometime. And now it’s here.”
