Janet Todd believes famed K-1 kickboxer Takeru Segawa would love to compete in ONE Championship’s Muay Thai division, which uses 4oz gloves rather than the more traditional 10oz gloves used in competitions across K-1.
Takeru has been celebrated around the world, often being dubbed the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound kickboxer in the world, though ONE world champion Chingiz Allazov might have something to say about that. Multiple athletes have called for Takeru to make the jump to ONE to truly test himself against the best in the world, including ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuantnon.
Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of her own Muay Thai showdown, Janet Todd believes Takeru would be a fantastic fit for ONE’s Muay Thai division:
“I just know how it was for my first experience. It is different, four-ounce gloves. You can't block the same way you block with boxing gloves, so, I think… I'm sure if he does take a Muay Thai fight with four-ounce gloves, he’s going to be practicing sort of how to defend with the four-ounces. But I'm sure he's going to love hitting. Yeah, I think he'll have to take that into account when he trains because it's not the same.”

On Friday, March 24, Janet Todd will once again strap on a pair of 4oz gloves as she heads into a massive matchup with ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
Janet Todd expects the best version of Allycia Hellen Rodrigues at ONE Fight Night 8
When Allycia Hellen Rodrigues steps back into the circle at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, it will be the first time in more than two and a half years. Shortly after capturing the atomweight crown with a stellar performance against fan-favorite Stamp Fairtex, Rodrigues announced she was pregnant.
Taking ample time to give birth and bond with her son, Rodrigues is finally ready to return and her opponent expects nothing but the best from her:
“I don’t think [she’ll struggle with having time away]... With the amount of experience she has and the fact that she fought in ONE Championship before for a World Title, she’ll remember what that feels like. And I’m sure with the baby, it’s giving [her] other inspirations to be better. So, I’m expecting the best version of her.”
In Rodrigues’ absence, Janet Todd has held down the division, winning four straight, including a ONE interim atomweight world title fight against Lara Fernandez at ONE 159 last year.
