It’s already cliche at this point, but Janet Todd’s ‘no easy fight’ statement often rings true. Todd, the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world champion, will face Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, the ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion, in a unification bout at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.
Aware of the ramifications of her upcoming bout, Janet Todd told the South China Morning Post that she can’t afford to slip up against Rodrigues:
“I think she’s a tough opponent. We saw her go at it for five rounds with Stamp [Fairtex]. Stamp’s a formidable opponent too, so I’m expecting a tough fight. That’s what you want when you’re on the top, right? There are no easy fights at this point and that’s how you level up.”
Rodrigues had an incredible debut match in ONE Championship, snatching away the atomweight Muay Thai belt from Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex at ONE: A New Breed in August 2020. Though she’s taken a long absence to give birth and take care of her son, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues is still considered one of the toughest strikers in the world with 31 wins under her belt.

Janet Todd, meanwhile, is no slouch either. ‘JT’ owns the ONE atomweight kickboxing world title making her a double-world champion in ONE Championship. She’s also on a seven-fight winning streak that started in May 2019 when she battered Wang Chin Long for a second-round knockout victory. The American star’s latest win was a methodical unanimous decision victory over Spain’s Lara Fernandez to become the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world champion last July.
ONE Fight Night 8 goes down this Friday, US primetime, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
