“It didn’t go according to how I planned it exactly” – Janet Todd on recent fight with Lara Fernandez

Janet Todd is the long-reigning world champion in ONE's atomweight kickboxing division. In her last fight, she captured the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai crown in a close match against Lara Fernandez.

The US-born athlete was victorious against Fernandez. However, she was not happy with her own performance. 'JT' sat down with Tim Wheaton of Calf Kick Sports to explain:

"It didn’t go according to how I planned it exactly in my head. But it did show that I was still able to find my ‘tenth gear.’ Being able to push in that fifth round to do what I gotta do to win. Lara is a tough girl. I believe she has a fight coming up too so it’s good to see that as well."

Todd will now have the opportunity to fight for the undisputed ONE atomweight Muay Thai world championship at ONE on Prime Video 5. 'JT' is booked for a world title unification bout against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues on December 2.

ONE on Prime Video 5: De Ridder vs. Malykhin broadcasts live on Friday, December 2, and is free for fans in the United States and Canada with an Amazon Prime subscription. The fight card will see the debut of the highly-touted Roberto Soldic. In addition, it will feature three world title clashes.

Janet Todd expects a major challenge at ONE on Prime Video 5

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, the ONE atomweight Muay Thai queen, recently took some time away from the circle to fulfil her maternal duties. She will be having her comeback fight on December 2 against Janet Todd.

Todd spoke in an interview with ONE Championship and said that she isn't counting on Rodrigues suffering from any ring rust after a long layoff.

'JT' is preparing for the best version of the Muay Thai world champion:

“I don’t think [she’ll struggle with having time away]. With the amount of experience she has and the fact that she fought in ONE Championship before for a world title, she’ll remember what that feels like. And I’m sure with the baby, it’s giving [her] other inspirations to be better. So, I’m expecting the best version of her.”

Janet Todd has the opportunity to make history at ONE on Prime Video 5 by potentially becoming a two-sport world titleholder. The kickboxing queen 'JT' will be looking to add the Muay Thai strap to her waist when she battles the Brazilian this weekend.
