At ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, Janet Todd will look to unify the atomweight Muay Thai titles when she faces returning world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
After going on a dominant run as the ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion, Todd picked up the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world title in July last year. In doing so, she achieved two-sport championship status and set up a huge clash with Rodrigues.
Unfortunately for both women, their original fight at ONE on Prime Video 5 was canceled on late notice due to Todd testing positive for COVID-19. They will finally square off at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on March 24.
With Janet Todd’s vast striking experience, the veteran believes that if she wants to win this fight, she needs to keep at her range and not try to beat the world champion at her own game.

In an interview with ONE Championship, she said:
“I always like being in more of a punching and kicking range. So I'd like to use my footwork to keep myself at that range, because I think that's where I excel.”
‘JT’ will face Allycia Hellen Rodrigues for the unification of the atomweight Muay Thai world championships on March 24. The entire card will be broadcast live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Janet Todd reveals she was ‘devastated’ first fight with Allycia Hellen Rodrigues fell through
Despite the fact that she has been the holder of the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world championship since July, Janet Todd has waited a long time to get her opportunity at the unification.
Returning world champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues has been gone since giving birth to her first child, but the Brazilian world titleholder is finally back. In fact, the two world champs were previously scheduled to compete in December.
Just days before ONE on Prime Video 5, it was announced that the fight would not take place due to 'JT' testing positive for COVID-19. The fight was pushed back and rescheduled, meaning that Todd has had to wait even longer for her chance to become a full two-sport world champion.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, ‘JT’ spoke about how she reacted to the news that she wouldn’t be competing in December:
“It just took me a little bit to kind of get over the fact that I flew 15 and a half hours and trained really hard to get to this point. I made so many sacrifices, and then I didn’t have anything. I couldn’t do anything. I was really devastated. It’s devastating for me.”
Janet Todd will have the opportunity to become an undisputed two-sport world champion, having already dominated the atomweight kickboxing division. Meanwhile, it’s a big date for Allycia Hellen Rodrigues as well.
Since dethroning Stamp Fairtex in 2020, the Brazilian has taken some time away from the sport for the birth of her first child. Whilst she has only fought once under the ONE Championship banner, her debut was so impressive that fans have been eagerly anticipating her return.
