Jaron Ennis recently shared some thoughts on his upcoming IBF welterweight title defense against David Avanesyan this weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mercurial boxer outlined his game plan for the fight and vowed to put on a "fireworks" display for his fans.
The 27-year-old is among the fastest-rising boxers today and is widely known for possessing an impeccable blend of speed and power. The unbeaten pugilist has a professional record of 31-0, with one no-contest result. He's notably coming off a tenth-round knockout victory over Roiman Villa last July.
While Ennis was initially booked against Cody Crowley, the Canadian boxer was forced to withdraw due to a retina issue. The 35-year-old Avanesyan stepped in as the replacement shortly after. Ahead of his fight against the veteran, 'Boots' shared his thoughts on the matchup at the pre-fight press conference.

Speaking about competing on home turf and sharing some insight on his game plan for Avanesyan, Ennis said:
"I feel that I am going to thrive here and put on a beautiful show. I’m fighting at home, I’m comfortable... The opponent switch doesn’t really mean anything to me... I’m not going to go in there looking for the stoppage, but I’m going to have my fun and put on a show. But I’ll let the knockout come to me."
Ennis continued:
"It’s going to be turned up in here. Fireworks. It’s going to be lit up, and I’m excited. You are going to see a beautiful show, and I’m going to show the world and the 147-pound division that I am the best.” [H/T Boxingscene.com]

When Eddie Hearn called Jaron Ennis "one of the greatest signings" of Matchroom Boxing
Earlier this year, Matchroom Boxing frontman Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on adding Jaron Ennis to his stable of boxers and heaped praise on the 27-year-old for being an "unbelievable" boxer.
During an interview with The Stomping Ground, Hearn opened up about the hype around Ennis and the publicity he created when he signed with Matchroom Boxing. Hearn called him "one of the greatest signings" of the company and said:
"'Boots' messaged me last night and said, 'Wow, we've really broken the internet.' I can't actually remember an announcement that had the same kind of noise that the 'Boots' signing had. This is one of the greatest signings of all time. I've been trying to sign 'Boots' [for] four or five years because I watched him years ago and thought, 'This kid is unbelievable."
