“Everybody wants to see the bad guy lose” - Jarred Brooks embracing villain role ahead of clash with Joshua Pacio

Jarred Brooks will be competing in enemy territory as he looks to take the strawweight throne against Joshua Pacio in the Philippines on December 3rd.

The 29-year-old Brooks is well known for the trash talk he levies against his opponents. Following in the footsteps of Chael Sonnen and Conor McGregor, 'The Monkey God' understands the role he is playing in this fight.

While speaking to ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks explained:

"Joshua Pacio, you better be ready baby, ‘The Monkey God’ is coming... Everybody wants to see the bad guy lose, I’m gonna win that fight. I’m gonna have Filipino people saying I’m the best fighter in the world."

Brooks has looked unstoppable during his impressive three-fight win streak in ONE's competitive strawweight division. He even scored a win over Pacio's fellow Team Lakay stablemate, Lito Adiwang, in his debut. At ONE 164, Jarred Brooks will be coming for the ONE strawweight world title:

"Who’s coming Joshua Pacio? Me."

Jarred Brooks wants to knock out Joshua Pacio

Brooks is full of confidence going into his world title showdown at ONE 164. Filipino MMA standout Joshua Pacio has long held the strawweight crown and has defended it in multiple bouts.

The feisty challenger does not care about any of that though. 'The Monkey God' wants ONE gold and said he will earn it via knockout. While speaking to SCMP MMA, the 29-year-old explained:

“Josh, ‘Oh my gosh, how did he get here?’ I beat better people [in one year] than you have in your whole career. So I think that he's not going to be prepared for this style and the way that I'm going to bring it. Different fighters bring different opportunities and different kinds of styles that will be brought out of me. I'm super excited to fight Josh. He's a smarter Lito Adiwang, let's just say that.”
