Jarred Brooks expects to be put through the wringer against Gustavo Balart, who he describes as one of the toughest names in ONE Championship's talent-jammed strawweight MMA division.
The former divisional king is out to redeem himself after a rather forgettable contest in his last outing. He takes on the tough-as-nails Cuban warrior in a ONE interim strawweight MMA world title matchup that will be part of ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2.
With a proven track record and all-around qualities in every department, many see this fight as a walk in the park for The Mash Fight Team superstar. However, 'The Monkey God' believes it will be far from that when they collide inside the world-class Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, in about three weeks.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda MMA, Jarred Brooks said:
"I think Gustavo will be a good opponent for me and a good opponent for everybody. Anybody who's fought him, they know it's a hard fight. It's super rough."
The 31-year-old fighter is eager to get back on track following back-to-back defeats against Pacio (MMA) and Mikey Musumeci (submission grappling).
Despite having his back against the wall, 'The Monkey God' believes those setbacks will spur him to greater heights when he resumes his quest inside the ONE Circle.
That mission kicks off against Balart at ONE Fight Night 24, available to active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America live in U.S. primetime for free.
Jarred Brooks knows he must put out Balart or risk losing
Given his assessment, Jarred Brooks promises to pedal to the metal when he meets the Cuban powerhouse at ONE Fight Night 24 early next month.
The former ONE strawweight MMA world title cites Balart's high-pressure style as something he must overcome at all costs if he wants to walk out of the Mecca of Muay Thai with his hand raised.
In the same interview, the American athlete went on to add:
"You've either got to put him out or he's going to come at you the whole time with that Balart style."
