Jarred Brooks is on the hunt for his next challenge

Since winning the strawweight world title, Jarred Brooks has already started to look around for his next challenge.

At ONE 164, Brooks was forced to showcase his always-improving striking game after he was unable to consistently take down the former dominant champion Joshua Pacio.

Known for his grappling ability, ‘The Monkey God’ has been able to dominate most of his opponents inside the circle and has stayed very active.

Against Pacio, he showcased his overall game and how it has developed since his signing with ONE Championship.

Following December 3, Brooks is looking for potential opponents outside of his own division after he has defeated a lot of the top contenders already, potentially even looking outside of mixed martial arts.

In a recent interview, Jarred Brooks spoke about the possibility of competing in a mixed-rules fight at some point in the future. When asked if there are any Muay Thai or kickboxing competitors that Brooks enjoys watching and would like to face, he had one name in mind:

“Yeah, I would. Joseph Lasiri, he's 125 at strawweight. I mean a cross-fight like that would be really cool.”

Whilst Joseph ‘The Hurricane’ Lasiri may have ended his year with a loss to Rodtang Jitmuangnon, he’s had an incredible year that saw him cause some huge upsets to become the strawweight Muay Thai world champion.

Jarred Brooks says he was treated like a king in the Philippines

At ONE 164, Jarred Brooks walked into his fight in the main event as the clear heel in the match-up. In front of his opponent's home fans in Manila, Brooks faced and defeated Joshua Pacio to become the ONE strawweight world champion.

While he had trash-talked his opponent throughout the build-up, Brooks had nothing but positive things to say about the Filipino people and how he was treated.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks revealed how he was treated “like a king” in the Philippines and enjoyed his time there after the fight.

“Yeah, I've been out, definitely. After my fight in the Philippines, I was actually greeted and treated like a king in the Philippines, it was pretty dope. Coming back. I mean, dude, I don't party really. So I just relaxed and tried to get over this jetlag, then get back to work next week.”

Whilst it’s unclear who Jarred Brooks will face next time he steps into the circle, ‘The Monkey God’ has been clear that his rivalry with Joshua Pacio is likely far from over though the two men do have a lot more respect for each other now:

"This isn’t the end with Joshua Pacio. We were just talking about it too. So, I would love to give him another chance in Denver in the United States. He can come to my home turf and we can see where it goes from there."
