Jarred Brooks has made a huge impact in ONE Championship since debuting in November last year. ‘The Monkey God’ hasn’t been afraid to call his shot and back it up inside the circle.
With three consecutive wins, two via submission, Brooks now finds himself preparing for his shot at the strawweight world championship at ONE 164. In a massively anticipated world championship clash after the first attempt at their pairing canceled and rescheduled, Brooks will face dominant champion Joshua Pacio in Manila.
Jarred Brooks hasn’t been one to keep quiet about his intentions and that’s no different going into the biggest fight of his career to date. Ahead of his shot at the world championship, the American is already talking about dominating the flyweight division following success on December 3.
In a Twitter post, Brooks said:

“I am the best strawweight in the world and in due time I will prove I am the best flyweight as well!”
Brooks has already spoken about wanting to challenge flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson before ‘Mighty Mouse’ calls time on his career.
Whilst some may argue that the title challenger could be looking past his next fight, Brooks hasn’t put a foot wrong inside the circle yet, all the while trash talking his opponents.
“A perfect last fight for him would be me” - Jarred Brooks proposes Demetrious Johnson retirement fight
Jarred Brooks has made his opinions on ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson very clear in the past. The strawweight world title challenger was full of praise for ‘Mighty Mouse’ earlier this year after Johnson had predicted Brooks to defeat champion Joshua Pacio when they eventually meet.
After Johnson appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience in October, once again mentioning ‘The Monkey God’, Brooks took to Twitter to post a video where he respectfully called out the champion of the weight above.
Brooks said:
"Demetrious Johnson went on Joe Rogan the other day. He said he's about on his way out. I think a perfect last fight for him would be me."
'The Monkey God' proposed unique rules set up for this matchup. He explained:
"A strawweight vs. flyweight champion. And if you wanted to make it interesting, we can make it mixed rules as well. We can go one round Muay Thai, second round Jiu-Jitsu, and third round MMA."
Before he can think about facing off with one of the greatest of all time, however, Jarred Brooks has a huge fight on his hands at ONE 164 when he faces reigning ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio.
Both ONE 164 and ONE on Prime Video 5 will take place on a massive weekend live from Manila.
