ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States, isn't taking upcoming opponent 'Lightning' Reece McLaren lightly by any means.
The 31-year-old Mash Fight Team representative is making his flyweight MMA debut against the No.4-ranked contender. If he wins, he will firmly place his name among the division's elite five.
In a recent interview with the Bangkok Post, Brooks said he has great respect for McLaren as a fighter and believes he's one of the best in the world.

'The Monkey God' said:
"100 percent. And I'm not going to lie to myself. Reece McLaren is somebody that has been in this game, he's gone against some of the best competition in ONE Championship. He literally is one of the best flyweights in the world. But that's one of the reasons why I want to test myself and one of the reasons why I wanted to fight Reece in the first place."
Brooks is looking to make a statement in his first MMA fight at flyweight in the world's largest martial arts organization. Ultimately, 'The Monkey God' has eyes on the division's gold and is looking to start his bid for two-weight supremacy.
