Headlining ONE 164, 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks accomplished his life's goal by earning the ONE strawweight world championship. The triumph came in a five-round battle against now-former divisional king 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio.
In a recent Instagram post, the American athlete reflected on 2022. Last year, he won three bouts in the ONE circle and captured a world title. On his success, Brooks wrote:
"What an amazing year ! 2023 is going to bring more hardships , more money, and more happiness . I got a world title this year but I lost so much in the process . In 2022 I worked hard for a few months and I got to where I needed to be."

'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks wants 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson
After earning the ONE strawweight world title, 'The Monkey God' wasted no time in calling out his idol 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson. If the pair fought, it would be a battle between two world champions.
In his post-fight interview at ONE 164, Brooks said
"I mean, I would love to fight Demetrious Johnson. That's like, a dream come true to me. So Demetrious, I have the utmost respect for you. You're the best ever. I would love to share the circle with you."
Speaking to MMA Junkie Radio, Jarred Brooks declared that Demetrious Johnson is the MMA GOAT and that he wants to challenge him. 'The Monkey God' said:
“I would also like to fight Demetrious Johnson. Demetrious Johnson’s the GOAT. Would love to fight him."
The ONE flyweight world champion is currently booked, so Brooks will have to get in line. Johnson will be facing his rival Adriano Moraes at ONE on Prime Video 10 on May 5.
It will be a historic match as it'll headline ONE's first show on US soil. Moraes and Johnson have each won one bout via knockout against each other and will now look to settle the score in a trilogy contest.
