Jarred Brooks has revealed the main reason why he made the temporary switch to flyweight for his next MMA showdown at ONE Fight Night 26.
Brooks' last fight took place on Aug. 2 against Gustavo Balart for the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title. Their interim duel was scheduled as a response to Joshua Pacio's inability to defend his belt, because of an injury he suffered earlier this year.
Although Brooks laments Pacio's injury, he doesn't want to tarnish his legacy by being inactive. He loves to perform and is always ready to put on shows, even if it means moving up a weight class.
"That's one of the main reasons why I took this fight," he told the Bangkok Post. "I've been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for Joshua to get off the stool."

The ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion will have his work cut out for him when he challenges No. 4-ranked contender Reece McLaren in a potential eliminator bout on Dec. 6 in Bangkok, Thailand.
McLaren is known for his all-encompassing MMA skillset, including wrestling and boxing, to help him outwit Jarred Brooks' erratic fighting style.
ONE Fight Night 26 airs live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium via Prime Video for North American subscribers.
"I'm gonna show you guys what a real champion does" - Jarred Brooks whats to get the deed done in the first round at ONE Fight Night 26
Jarred Brooks doesn't want to spend too much time in the ring than he needs to when he touches gloves with Reece McLaren this Friday.
The 31-year-old superstar is excited to close out the 2024 year with another resounding finish, and rumor has it, he's looking to damage McLaren in the very first round.
With the future looking unpredictable by the day, Brooks is only focused on this fight and to prove his doubters wrong.
On Instagram, Jarred Brooks said:
"I wanna get it done in the first round. Doesn't matter how it gets done. I'm going to show you guys what a real champion does. I am going to finish Reece McLaren in the first round.
