Jarred Brooks talked about having to move on and adapt in the fighting world.
On March 1, Brooks was matched up in a rematch against Joshua Pacio at ONE 166: Qatar, with the former defending his strawweight MMA world title for the first time. They first fought in December 2022 when 'The Monkey God' dethroned Pacio of ONE gold with a dominant unanimous decision win.
This time around, Brooks and Pacio weren't able to showcase their skills before tragedy struck. Less than a minute into the fight, Brooks slammed 'The Passion' on his head in an illegal move that cost him his world title. Referee Herb Dean disqualified the American superstar, beginning Pacio's third title reign.
During an interview with ABS-CBN, Brooks discussed his loss at ONE 166: Qatar and his fighting journey thus far. The 31-year-old had this to say about overcoming the adversity and adapting to whatever comes his way:

"Things happen in life and you just have to adapt. Just like in a fight, somebody kicks you in the head, you got to adapt and kick harder and try to win that personal fight."
Jarred Brooks was expected to receive an immediate rematch against Joshua Pacio for a must-see trilogy bout. Unfortunately, Pacio was preparing for the historic matchup when he suffered a torn ACL, putting his fighting career on hold.

Jarred Brooks' first step in comeback tour takes place at ONE Fight Night 24
Joshua Pacio may not fight again until early 2025, so ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong implemented an interim strawweight MMA world title. On August 2, Jarred Brooks will battle number three-ranked Gustavo Balart in the ONE Fight Night 24 main event to determine Pacio's next opponent.
Brooks has claimed he wants to move on from Pacio, but not without the undisputed strawweight MMA throne. Therefore, 'The Monkey God' must take out the always-dangerous Balart before potentially ending his series with Pacio.
ONE Fight Night 24 will take place inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Next Friday's event in Bangkok, Thailand can be seen live and for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
