Becoming a ONE world champion changed Jarred Brooks' life.
On Friday, August 2, 'The Monkey God' will look to become a two-time titleholder when he squares off with Gustavo Balart in the ONE Fight Night 24 headliner. The winner will emerge as the new interim ONE strawweight MMA world champion, setting the stage for a title unification clash with the division's current undisputed king, Joshua Pacio.
Ahead of his highly anticipated return to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Jarred Brooks spoke about the positive impact of winning a world title, telling the South China Morning Post:

"I'm a ONE champion. Thank God that I am a ONE champion because all these guys want to work with me now, and I just keep on getting better. I put myself in uncomfortable positions. And hopefully, I'm in the best position at the end of this year."
With a win over 'El Gladiador' at ONE Fight Night 24, Brooks will line himself up for a trilogy bout with Joshua Pacio after their ONE 166 rematch came to a crashing halt less than 60 seconds into the scrap.
Jarred Brooks' first step toward redemption starts at ONE Fight Night 24
After dominating 'The Passion' to win his first ONE world title at ONE 164, Jarred Brooks returned to the Circle in Qatar this past March for a highly anticipated rematch.
Sadly, the bout was called off at the 56-second mark when 'The Monkey God' inadvertently spiked Pacio on the top of his head during an early takedown attempt. Brooks was DQ'd and Pacio was once again crowned the strawweight MMA world champion.
If Brooks can return to the win column inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, he'll guarantee himself a third meeting with Pacio and an opportunity at redemption. However, that will be easier said than done when Brooks meets one of the hottest acts in all of strawweight MMA.
Gustavo Balart enders ONE Fight Night 24 sitting on a four-fight win streak, including a big win over the division's fourth-ranked contender Hiroba Minowa in his last outing.
