Former strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks ready to elevate his performance for an interim title.

Jarred Brooks is carrying a lot of hype and skillset into his next effort to claim the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title at ONE Fight Night 24.

Although facing a formidable foe in Olympian wrestler Gustavo Balart of Cuba, Brooks is also a strong and experienced wrestler in his own right.

Those particular skills were seen in his various appearances with the organization, but it doesn't mean that he would not utilize any other skills in his arsenal.

Keeping it like a game of chess, 'The Monkey God' shared his insights on his next fight in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA:

"In a chess context, I use my king, which is my wrestling, and the rest of my martial arts are pawns. And the pawns, I can get them better and better and better, until I can get them into a higher ranking, right?"

Although he did not reveal his game plan to defeat Balart, Brooks did say that he has something big in his bag of tricks:

"The best advice I got is from Malachy Friedman, who said ‘A move isn’t yours until you perfect it.’"

Jarred Brooks guarantees no upsets at ONE Fight Night 24

American superstar Jarred Brooks' next challenge is to take out Cuban wrestler Gustavo Balart, and it won't be an easy feat.

The former Olympian is riding high on a four-win streak, which solidifies his claim for the interim belt, but Brooks will not be complacent.

'The Monkey God' added to this in the same interview:

"I think he's gonna come out super-hungry. And for me, I just gotta make sure this isn't a Matt Serra versus GSP kinda deal."

ONE Fight Night 24 is airing live on August 2 in U.S. primetime from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. North American fans can catch the full event free with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
