To say that No.1-ranked strawweight contender Jarred Brooks is one of the most interesting people in ONE Championship would simply be an understatement. Apart from his elite martial arts skills, ‘The Monkey God’ has made quite the name for himself for his prowess on the microphone.

Believe it or not, he’s not putting on an act whatsoever. Brooks is as real as it gets and means every single insult that he says. The 29-year-old American will indeed be public enemy number one when he takes on Joshua Pacio in the main event of ONE 164 on December 3.

The showdown between the two best strawweight fighters in the world will take place inside Pacio’s stomping grounds at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. For sure, the 29-year-old American won’t be winning any Filipino fans soon following his relentless trash talk of Pacio. Heading into their bout, Jarred Brooks has repeatedly claimed that the Team Lakay star is not at his level and will be in for a rude awakening.

In an interview with MMA Sucka, Brooks admitted that his animosity towards Pacio is as genuine as it gets:

“You’re actually messing with me bro. And that does get into everybody’s head and I mean it. That’s why they get scared and I do mean it. I mean every word, this is not anything fake that I’m saying. It is planned out but it’s nothing fake.”

Truth be told, the upcoming Pacio vs. Brooks tiff has garnered a lot of interest, thanks to Brooks’ repeated callouts. ‘The Monkey God’ has already proven that he’s not all bark either, dispatching his first three opponents inside the circle with relative ease.

Jarred Brooks dominated Pacio’s Team Lakay teammate Lito Adiwang in his debut. He then carried that momentum to defeat Hiroba Minowa and Bokang Masunyane to earn his shot at the strawweight king.

Jarred Brooks plans to exploit Joshua Pacio’s inactivity in their upcoming bout

Brooks will be figuring in his third fight of 2022 against Pacio. ‘The Passion’, on the other hand, will be fighting for the first and last time this year.

As such, the Mash Fight Team standout believes he’ll have the upper hand against Pacio, who’s been on the sidelines for quite some time. Brooks said in the same interview with MMA Sucka:

“There are levels to it. If I’m watching you, you haven’t fought, you fought twice in the past four years man. I mean you can sit there and build on the gym all day but when you’re in there like I have, three times in just one year, right. Four times in one year, right? There’s a difference.”

Pacio, of course, has never had issues with conditioning and endurance in 14 career fights inside the circle.
