Jarred Brooks wants to "beat the best" to be the best in the world

ONE strawweight world champion, Jarred Brooks, has never been afraid to call his shots on the mic.

Since arriving at ONE Championship at the end of 2021, Brooks has been on a dominant run under the ONE banner, producing four consecutive wins that now see him at the top of the division. Unsatisfied with just being the best in his weight class, ‘The Monkey God’ has made it clear that he wants to test himself against the best fighters in the world.

In a recent Instagram post, Brooks spoke about his motivation to face off against all kinds of challengers. The caption alongside the video says:

“My thoughts on the new @onechampionship card in America and future opponents!”

In the video itself, Jarred Brooks expresses interest in looking outside of his own division in order to challenge himself. Whilst he referenced several credible strawweight contenders that he could face in his first title defense, his real goal is to compete in super fights.

“You know, I’m going to still come through and beat the best in the world and I’m gonna tell everybody that right now. So when it happens, you can say that I actually meant it."

Jarred Brooks renews call to face the flyweight elite - “Demetrious Johnson, I’m coming for you”

In his Instagram post, Jarred Brooks renewed his interest in facing elite fighters from the division above. At ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5, the flyweight title will be on the line when the champion Demetrious Johnson faces Adriano Moraes for a third time.

The event will be a historic night for ONE Championship as the promotion hosts their first event in the United States. Having won the strawweight world championship in December, ONE Fight Night 10 could be a card that Brooks is targeting for his return. After making his name in the US, this would give Brooks an opportunity to compete in front of his home fans under the ONE banner.

Ever since his title win against Joshua Pacio, ‘The Monkey God’ has had one name in mind for a fight that he wants to test himself in. Flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson has a tough test ahead of him in Brazil’s Adriano Moraes. However, if he is successful, Jarred Brooks is hoping for a champion vs. champion super fight.

In his recent Instagram video, Brooks said:

“Yeah, Demetrious Johnson I’m coming for you man. Or Adriano Moraes, it doesn’t matter. I’m gonna be coming after you guys. Take hand, foot, and nail to come and kill. I’m literally the best in the world. There’s nobody like me.”
