'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks just went through the greatest moment of his career.
At ONE 164, he battled 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio for five rounds and was able to capture the ONE strawweight world championship. Now, Brooks hopes to share his newly earned ONE gold with his family.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks first discussed the jetlag of flying from the Philippines to the USA. The American athlete explained:
"Throughout the jetlag, I mean, you're just eating with your, I live with one of my coaches, so I just chill with him. I chill with one of my teammates Justin Scoggins, he lives with our coaches as well. So we're all just chilling."

'The Monkey God' will soon be going home to spend some quality time with his parents and family, and to share his new ONE Championship belt with them. Brooks continued:
"And I haven't been to my hometown yet, but I plan on going to see my dad and see my mom, see the people that are really close to me to enjoy this world championship with me, that has been a part of it."
Jarred Brooks was honored by his home state
While 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks is proud to show off his new world title to his family, his home state declared that they were proud of him. The US state of Michigan honored Jarred Brooks with a Certificate of Recognition.
In an official declaration from Michigan State Representative Ryan Berman and State Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Brooks shared the moment on Instagram:
"It was an honor yesterday I got a certificate of [recognition] from our state representative here in Michigan [Ryan Berman] and [Gretchen Whitmer] our governor ! James and I have been life long martial artists and appreciate Ryan and the state for the recognition !"
Jarred Brooks, as ONE strawweight world champion, is now officially recognized by Michigan for his great efforts in representing the state around the world. 'The Monkey God' will be looking to defend his throne in the ONE circle sometime in 2023.
ONE Championship will host its first event on US soil in 2023, and Brooks may be a featured fighter at the event. On May 5, at ONE on prime Video 10 in Colorado, 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson is booked to face Adriano Moraes with the ONE flyweight world title on the line.
