Fresh off of his huge win at ONE 164, Jarred Brooks is already looking for his next challenge.
In the main event on December 3, Brooks defeated now-former strawweight champion Joshua Pacio to win the world title and continue his incredible streak in ONE Championship.
Having largely dominated all of his opponents inside the circle, Brooks was recently asked where he sees his next challengers coming from.
Whilst he has mentioned the name of ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson several times, Jarred Brooks also spoke about the possibility of competing in a mixed-rules contest.

Brooks told ONE:
“I mean, if they want to give me these bigger fights, I'll do cross-promotion fights, not just UFC or anything like that, but how they want Muay Thai fighters and kickboxers to do one round of MMA fighters and then another round of kickboxing, another round of MMA. Definitely down to do some crazy fights like that. I feel like that's a cool form of what they're trying to portray in martial arts. So, I would like to do that. But Demetrious is definitely like the straw that I'm trying to pick.”
ONE Championship has hosted one mixed-rules fight in the past, a contest between Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE X.
Jarred Brooks credits teammates for his vastly improved striking
ONE’s newly crowned strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks continued his impressive run in ONE Championship at ONE 164.
Whilst ‘The Monkey God’ is known for his grappling abilities, he was forced to show off his improved standup game when facing Joshua Pacio.
After he was unable to consistently take the defending champion down, Brooks needed to rely on his striking to get the job done. Following his performance, Brooks spoke about his improved skills on the feet in his post-fight press conference:
'The Monkey God' is known for his dominant wrestling, but his hands were a primary weapon
"Shoutout to coach Glove at Glove University. Shootout to my coach James Lee, he’s been working with my hands for a while. And shoutout to Justin Scoggins as well for helping me with my movement and my striking."
Brooks gets his training done at Mash Fight Team in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The 32-year-old has been nothing short of spectacular since signing with ONE, earning wins over top-five foes like Hiroba Minowa and Bokang Masunyane.
