Jeremy Miado has called out the ONE Championship strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks.
On December 3, 2022, Brooks made his dreams come true by defeating Joshua Pacio to solidify himself as the strawweight king. ‘The Monkey God’ is now waiting for his first title challenger, which is unclear because he holds wins over the top three ranked strawweights.
While few contenders have spoken up, Miado looks to capitalize on the opportunity by calling out Brooks. During an interview with ABS-CBN News, ‘The Jaguar’ called his shot:
"I am available. If Jarred Brooks needs a dance partner on May 5, I am right here.”

Miado started his ONE tenure with a lackluster record of 2-4. Since then, the Philippines-born fighter has emerged as a legitimate title contender, starting with two wins against Miao Li Tao.
He continued to build momentum by taking out Lito Adiwang at ONE X. ‘The Jaguar’ last fought in October 2022, defeating No.5-ranked Danial Williams and extending his win streak to four.
Jeremy Miado is confident Jarred Brooks can’t keep him on the ground
Jarred Brooks has evolved into a well-rounded fighter, but his grappling is the primary reason he became a world champion. ‘The Monkey God’ has the skills to negate his opponents' strengths by holding them down. During the same interview with ABS-CBN News, Jeremy Miado detailed why Brooks won’t be able to keep him down:
"Since day one, my coaches have always been telling me every day to focus on my wrestling. That's why in my last few fights, my opponents haven't been able to keep me pinned down on the ground.”
Miado continued:
“I was happy when I saw that he had a hard time keeping Pacio down, and I'm confident because he might be able to take me down. However, I'm sure he won't be able to control me because that's all I've been perfecting since day one, that even if I get taken down, I can get back up."
Miado has the tools to give Brooks trouble, but it’s easier said than done. ‘The Monkey God’ is 4-0 since joining ONE Championship in 2021. The 29-year-old made a statement at ONE 164 by taking out the long-reigning champion Joshua Pacio. It’ll be intriguing to see if ‘The Jaguar’ gets the opportunity to dethrone the strawweight king.
