John Lineker is known for his legendary one-hit knockout power, but against Fabricio Andrade, ‘Hands of Stone’ struggled to find the mark and ended up eating a series of brutal blows in the process.
After an unfortunate turn of events that turned their highly-entertaining ONE on Prime Video 3 main event into a no-contest, the two Brazilian heavy hitters will run it back on February 24 at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok as ONE Championship presents ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video.
Ahead of the ONE bantamweight world championship rematch, Team Lakay’s Jeremy Pacatiw spoke with The MMA Superfan about John Lineker’s struggles in their first meeting and how things could be different in the rematch.
“It’s like he really wanted to connect with that one-punch knockout. But what happened was Andrade just kept hitting him. He couldn’t get his offense off. Let’s just see, I feel that they’ll adjust once they’re in the fight.”

After nearly being finished in the third round of their first matchup, Lineker received somewhat of a reprieve, albeit in an excruciatingly painful way. Thanks to an ill-placed knee from Fabricio Andrade, the former ONE bantamweight king will get the opportunity to reclaim his crown in front of a crowd of die-hard combat sports fans in Thailand.
John Lineker had to change it up in order to survive against Fabricio Andrade in their first meeting
Anyone who has followed John Lineker’s 15-year career inside the cage knows that the Brazilian knockout artist loves to put his hands to work and live up to his incredibly appropriate nickname. However, things quickly changed when he stood toe-to-toe with Fabricio Andrade in October. ‘Wonder Boy’ turned the heavy-handed Brazilian into a wrestler that night, and he’ll look to do it again on February 24.
Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda MMA, ‘Hands of Stone’ revealed that he was unable to hit the mark the first time out and, as a result, had to resort to his wrestling in order to keep the fight competitive.
"The striking was not favorable for me, so I had to change my strategy. The takedowns were to stop the momentum, to work on my jiu-jitsu, and to win the fight little by little."
Will John Lineker lean on his wrestling from the opening bell in an epic rematch? Find out in just a matter of days when ONE Championship will present ONE Fight Night 7 live and for free in U.S. primetime on Amazon Prime Video.
