For Team Lakay fighter Jeremy Pacatiw, patience will serve former world champion John Lineker well in his rematch against Fabricio Andrade for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title later this month.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, ‘The Juggernaut’ shared his thoughts on the headlining bout at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. The event is set for February 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Jeremy Pacatiw said too much eagerness on the part of Lineker to land the “home run” punch did not work to his advantage against Andrade in the first encounter. Instead, it left many openings for him to be pounded on.

The Team Lakay standout stated:

“Yeah, I think that’s what happened. Lineker was too eager to land that one-hit knockout and that eagerness proved to be bad for him. He was too focused on connecting a big punch and thinking ‘I want to knock him out’ that he forgot his game plan. Sometimes when you rush things, it makes you vulnerable to your opponent’s punches.”

The first fight between Lineker and Andrade last October ended in a no contest after the former was ruled unable to continue after being struck with an accidental knee to the groin in the third round.

Before that, Andrade was having his way with solid strikes that had ‘Hands of Stone’ on the defensive for much of the time.

The two will try to attach their name to the vacant bantamweight world championship at ONE Fight Night 7, happening at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok. The card will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Jeremy Pacatiw, for his part, has been busy training with his team in Baguio City, Philippines. He joined ONE in 2021 and has steadily established his footing in the bantamweight division.

Jeremy Pacatiw hails former opponent Fabricio Andrade’s elusiveness

Filipino fighter Jeremy Pacatiw experienced firsthand the difficulty of having Fabricio Andrade as an opponent, particularly the Brazilian's ability to avoid being hit.

‘The Juggernaut’ met ‘Wonder Boy’ in February last year at ONE: Full Circle and absorbed a first-round knockout loss.

One of the things that stood out for Jeremy Pacatiw was the elusiveness that Andrade showed during the fight.

He shared to The MMA Superfan:

“Fabricio has this unorthodox style of leaning back with his stance, that’s why it’s so hard to hit him... You really have to set up your shots so that you can hit him. You have to set up one hit so that your second one connects. But yeah, he really has perfect timing with his knees, that’s what I see from him.”

It is something that Jeremy Pacatiw believes will continue to work to the advantage of Andrade as he fights John Lineker in a rematch for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title at ONE Fight Night 7.

Pacatiw’s loss to Andrade was his first in the promotion, which he has since made up for with a second-round submission victory over Myanmar’s Tial Thang last December in Manila.
