UFC strawweight fighter Jessica Andrade recently penned a new contract with the promotion, with her reportedly earning three times as much as she did previously.

Andrade is considered one of the toughest female fighters on the roster and is a former strawweight champion. The Brazilian captured the title when she defeated Rose Namajunas in stunning fashion at UFC 237 by earning a KO with a slam.

'Bate Estaca' would then fail in her attempt to defend the title versus Zhang Weili and saw her form slump to 1 win and 3 losses between 2019 and 2021.

In 2023, Andrade is back to her best in the octagon after winning three straight fights and most recently agreed to step in as a last-minute replacement to face Erin Blanchfield this weekend. The Brazilian's form and her willingness to help out the organization have been deemed enough by the UFC brass to have earned a significantly better contract.

According to Jessica Andrade, who recently discussed the new contract on MMA Fighting's podcast Trocação Franca, the new deal will see her earn more than three times what she did in her last fight:

“It was something really good, a great change in my career...Now I’ll really be able to make my nest egg and plan my life. Maybe my body won’t be the same in five or six years, so now I’ll be able to change my life and my family’s lives.

Andrade added:

“This is work well done from my part, but also my team, to be putting on good fights and always being available when the UFC needs. This fight has really saved my life in every sense. I’ll even buy my mother a new house.”

Lauren Murphy reflects on loss to Jessica Andrade at UFC 283

Last month, Jessica Andrade stepped down a weightclass to face the experienced Lauren Murphy in a flyweight bout in front of her home crowd.

Murphy had been hoping to spoil the party for Andrade and the Brazilian crowd but was dominated from the off and the subject of a one-sided masterclass from 'Bate Estaca.'

During the fight, there were many occasions where the crowd, commentators, and fans at home wanted Murphy's team to throw in the towel to prevent further damage. The decision was never made, and Murphy survived the three rounds as Jessica Andrade's hand was raised via unanimous decision.

Following the fight, 'Lucky's corner received a fair amount of criticism from those who believed they should have thrown in the towel. In response, Lauren Murphy took to Twitter to address the critics and thanked her corner for allowing her to finish the fight.

"These guys are some of the best coaches I've ever had. I'm so grateful they let me fight till the end. I AM tough..."
