While many fans view Jiri Prochazka as a larger-than-life character straight out of an eccentric movie, the Czech fighter is determined to take things one step further. The former UFC light heavyweight champion shared a bold concept for a combat sports event during a recent podcast episode with Joe Rogan. P
Prochazka’s idea draws inspiration from the blockbuster Hunger Games series featuring Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence, which earned $3.3 billion at the global box office. He envisioned a scenario where fighters are placed in a natural environment and must seek each other out to engage in combat. According to Prochazka, this approach represents rawness and authenticity, contrasting with modern structured fighting formats.
The idea also hinted at incorporating weapons, akin to historical gladiatorial combat or armored sword fights, which have gained traction in niche markets. Speaking on episode #165 of The Joe Rogan Experience, Prochazka said:
"[I was thinking of] Hunger Games. Just put somebody and somebody somewhere and they will find each other in the natural environment and they will fight together and everybody will watch us. So yeah give them weapons... How I see that [is] when we go higher in understanding maybe we have to go deeper in these raw things."

The pair also talked about ancient philosophies while discussing the idea, likening it to the teachings of samurai warrior Miyamoto Musashi, who emphasized harmony in physical and mental states for peak performance.

Jiri Prochazka talks about his influences and mastering the mind and body
Jiri Prochazka's quest for martial arts knowledge is deeply rooted in personal philosophy and fighting influences. Inspired by Masutatsu Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate, Prochazka was drawn to the dedication Oyama displayed in his training.
The image of Oyama spending over a year alone in the mountains, enduring harsh conditions under waterfalls, resonated deeply with the Czech fighter. He embraced the concept of a "pure mind" free of distractions and focused entirely on the present moment as described in Oyama's teachings.
Speaking about his influences with Joe Rogan, Prochazka said:
"I was inspired by Masutatsu Oyama who was the founder of Kyokushin Karate. I saw his movie and how he spent more than one year and a half in the mountains and trained under the waterfall in the winter. He made for himself [an] unshakable mind."
