Jiri Prochazka next fight: When is 'Denisa' competing again and who is he fighting?

Jiri Prochazka is set to face Glover Teixeira for a second time at UFC 282 on December 10. The two fighters previously fought at UFC 275 in June, with Prochazka winning via submission in the final round after a wild outing in the octagon.

The UFC light heavyweight belt will once again be on the line at UFC 282. 'Denisa' became the first UFC champion from the Czech Republic after snatching the belt away from the Brazilian.

Prochazka has only been on the UFC's roster since 2020 and has fought just three times in the organization. His future opponent, Glover Teixeira, has been fighting under the UFC banner since 2012, so arguably has far more high-level experience than 'Denisa'.

As mentioned, the first bout between the two light heavyweight fighters was a back-and-forth battle. The 30-year-old was losing on two of the judges' scorecards leading into the fifth and final round, meaning Glover Teixeira was moments away from retaining his title before Prochazka submitted him.

Ben Cartlidge and Clemens Werner both scored the contest in favor of Teixeira, with Michael Bell scoring the fight 38-38 after four rounds of fighting. However, Prochazka made sure of the scorecards never coming into play, securing a rear-naked choke in the dying moments of the final round.

Who was the first fighter to beat Jiri Prochazka in professional MMA?

Jiri Prochazka tasted his first pro MMA defeat when taking on Bojan Velickovic in a regional bout in Serbia back in 2012. The outing was Prochazka's fifth fight in professional MMA. He lost to Velickovic via TKO in the first round at Supreme Fighting Championship 1: Balkan Fighter Night.

'Serbian Steel' is still competing in professional MMA and has a record of 21 wins, 12 losses and two draws as a professional fighter. Velickovic is currently fighting under the Oktagon MMA banner, which is a Slovakian MMA organization.

Jiri Prochazka's other defeats came against Abdul-Kerim Edilov and Muhammed Lawal. 'Denisa' was also held to a draw by Mikhail Mokhnatkin at Fight Nights Global 29. Since losing to Lawal at the RIZIN Fighting World Grand Prix in 2015, the Czech fighter has remained unbeaten and transitioned to the UFC in 2020.
