Jiri Prochazka has not entered the octagon since June when he challenged Alex Pereira for the light heavyweight title at UFC 303, losing the bout via second-round TKO. He is set to make his return in January 2025 against Jamahal Hill at UFC 311. The No. 2-ranked light heavyweight recently called out his upcoming opponent, alongside Magomed Ankalaev, claiming that neither has shown much recently.
Speaking in a video shared to his X account, Prochazka stated:
"Hello, it's time to say something after a long time. I'm really looking forward [to] my next fight. And Jamahal, don't speak about my performances, fight IQ and all these things because in your last fight, you didn't show nothing, really. And the same guy, same - Ankalaev, in your last three fights, you showed totally nothing. So, stay on the ground then. Okay, so I'll see you 18th of January. I'm going to win. I'm going for win. Let's go. See you."

Hill has fought just once since rupturing his Achilles tendon and relinquishing the light heavyweight title, suffering a first-round knockout loss to Pereira at UFC 300. Meanwhile, Ankalaev has won just two of his last four bouts, with one draw and one no contest. While he beat Johnny Walker via second-round knockout at UFC Fight Night 234, he was unable to finish Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308, winning via unanimous decision.
Jon Jones shares prediction for Jiri Prochazka vs. Jamahal Hill
Jiri Prochazka's upcoming clash with Jamahal Hill will likely have major implications for the light heavyweight title picture. Jon Jones, who had a lengthy reign running the division before moving to heavyweight, recently weighed in on the matchup.
The heavyweight champion was asked about the matchup during a recent interview with The Schmo, stating:
"I think Jamahal Hill will win. Jiri has really unorthodox striking, but Jamahal seems like the more technical, more clean striker and I'm a big fan of basic techniques. And Jamahal has a really strong, basic, clean kickboxing style."

Prochazka and Hill have the opportunity to work their way into the light heavyweight title picture. Although both lost to Pereira in 2024, the division doesn't have any clear contenders outside of Ankalaev - who appears next in line to fight for the belt.
