In pursuit of being the next heavyweight champion, former title challengers Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora headlined a Top Rank boxing event on July 27 at the O2 Arena in London. The fight card took the local prime time slot with UFC 304 kicking off shortly after the conclusion of the main event from Manchester to cater to the American audience.
Entering the fight, both Joyce and Chisora were coming off recent wins to get their careers back on track after a rough patch. Joyce's win over Kash Ali in March followed his consecutive losses to Zhilei Zhang in 2023. Chisora, who went just 1-3 from 2020 to 2022, rebounded from his title fight loss to Tyson Fury with a decision nod over Gerald Washington.
As two local fighters, both main event fighters are familiar with the O2 Arena but were headlining an event in the iconic building for the first time. Chisora, 40, billed the fight as his 'final war at the O2 Arena.'
