The Joe Joyce vs. Derek Chisora heavyweight clash has just wrapped up. The matchup served as the headliner of a Queensberry Promotions card, although no world title was on the line. The two men engaged in a 12, three-minute, round war, with X emerging victorious.
While not much was expected of the matchup, due to the age of its constituents, few were expecting the over-the-hill Chisora to win, given his poor 2-4 run of form in his last six fights, including a one-sided beating at the hands of Tyson Fury, which culminated in a 10-round TKO.
The bout, however, took on a different complexion than what was expected, with both men having moments. Ultimately, though, Chisora landed the harder shots to author a unanimous decision win on a 97-92, 96-94, 96-94 scorecard.

While Chisora seemed to fight with more urgency, Joyce was no toothless lion, as he landed his punches throughout the bout. The difference, though, was in impact and intent. Joyce began drawing Chisora to him, outlanding him with more sniping shots, while his foe was determined to behead him with every swing.
Although Joyce's strategy to outland Chisora proved effective, he still ate several hard shots from his opponent. However as the rounds progressed and the fight reached the halfway mark, Chisora began to fatigue. To be fair, so did Joyce, but the attrition from Joyce's offense began to wear itself on Chisora's face.
Despite seeming to fade, Chisora refused to quit on himself and resumed his pursuit of hard power punches as Ukrainian great Oleksandr Usyk, who sat ring-side, looked on. Late in the fight, Joyce appeared to rock Chisora badly against the ropes, but it was all forgotten by a round nine knockdown from Chisora himself.
