Episode #2241 of The Joe Rogan Experience saw the appearance of American drug researcher and psychedelic expert Rick Strassman. The conversation eventually focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, and United States president-elect Donald Trump's claims about the virus' mortality rates.
Rogan claimed that while he fears pandemics, he believes that the fear relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was overblown by the media. Moreover, he thinks that the media's alleged determination to instill public fear of the pandemic is what truly terrifies him now.
"I'm terrified of pandemics for sure. I just... that one wasn't one to be terrified of, and they made us terrified of it, which makes me terrified. Cause that was one where, you know, we talked about this on the podcast, where they made fun of Donald Trump because he was saying it's less than 1% of the people who get it die."
The longtime UFC commentator then insinuates that news outlets like CNN were ordered to deliberately misrepresent the mortality rates during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"And then CNN was mocking him, saying it's 3.4%, 3.4%. It was considerably less than 1%. He was right, but they had marching orders, and these marching orders was [were] to scare the sh*t out of people and to tell them to get vaccinated."

Joe Rogan previously criticized American billionaires for allegedly influencing the public to get vaccinated
Joe Rogan has been a strong critic of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. On episode #2231 of his podcast, Rogan aimed criticism at Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates for allegedly using his influence to pressure others into getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
"Bill Gates was on television telling everybody to get the vaccine, you won't get COVID. Then afterwards, 'Ah, that didn't work.'"
