Joe Rogan has just offered his thoughts on the Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti III rematch. Specifically, he touched on 'Money's' decision to fire the referee in round two in favor of another referee after the first official incorrectly ruled that a long right hook that wrapped around Gotti's ear was a back-of-the-head shot.
The conversation was had with American neuroscientist Andrew Huberman on episode #2195 of The Joe Rogan Experience. Not only did he wax lyrical about Mayweather's greatness as a boxer, but he also expressed astonishment over the latter's decision to replace the referee.
"The first referee was terrible, and the referee called Floyd—said Floyd Mayweather hit him [John Gotti III] behind the head. Absolutely incorrect call. Floyd threw a right hand and it caught him on the side of the head and the referee claimed that it was behind the head. So, Floyd fired the referee in the middle of the bout. He stops the bout and he's like, 'Get the f*** out of here. Get out of here.'"
Moreover, the longtime UFC commentator also agreed with Mayweather's replacement of the referee, even asserting that the referee had no choice but to do as he was told.

"It's Floyd Mayweather. Like, what's the referee going to do? 'F*** you, I'm gonna stop the fight?' Also, they're in Mexico City, like you could get killed. Like, just get out of the ring, buddy. So, Floyd throws this punch and he's 100% correct, the punch landed on the side of the head. It's a right hook, it's a perfect punch."

Joe Rogan has always praised Floyd Mayweather
Five years ago, Joe Rogan welcomed fight commentator Vinny Shoreman and multi-time Muay Thai champion Liam Harrison to episode #79 of his podcast. During their conversation, the UFC commentator praised Floyd Mayweather as the greatest boxer of all time.
"I mean, people, just because of the fact that he won decisions by playing it safe, people don't get excited about him and don't recognize him with the all-time greats. He's the best ever."
