Joe Rogan is known for sharing his opinions on a wide-ranging variety of topics on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The UFC commentator recently weighed in on the ongoing issues surrounding freedom of speech and misinformation.
Speaking to guest Matt Walsh on episode #2204 of JRE, Rogan stated:
"Yeah, it's complicated and this childish idea that just hands it over to the government to clean it up, that's not the answer. It is complicated. There are going to be people that say a bunch of things that aren't true, but the way to combat that is not put the government in charge of what's true, especially when they've been wrong so many times or they've just out and out lied so many times."
Rogan continued:

"That's a crazy position for the left to take - the ones that are supposed to be the party of science and reason and the ones that are supposed to be the most educated. It's just a bizzare perspective just because you don't want [Donald] Trump to win. Just because you don't want this to happen again."

While topics such as freedom of speech have become a familiar conversation in recent years, it should be noted that the First Amendment remains in place. The amendment, which has been in place since 1791, protects citizens from being prosecuted for their words. It does not, however, apply to private businesses taking action for things their employees say.

Joe Rogan weighs in on voter ID
Joe Rogan recently hosted Tom Segura on episode #2202 of his immensely popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The UFC commentator weighed in on the debate surrounding voter ID, claiming:
"We just got through three f**king years of you have to have a vaccine passport in order to get food. You have to be able to show an ID and show that you're vaccinated to get on an airplane. We just got through that and now all of a sudden, it's racist to say that you want voter ID. There's only one reason to do it that way."

Rogan added that it is racist to believe voter ID is racist as it implies that people cannot get a driver's license. 21 states require photo identification to be shown at the polls, while 15 others require some form of identification. The remaining 14 states and Washington D.C. have other means of verifying voters, with signature verification among the most common.
